Last week, a Mandeville police officer was shot and killed by a suspect following a vehicle chase that traversed much of the city. Another police officer was wounded but recovering. Both suspects have been taken into custody, according to Mandeville Police Chief Gerald Sticker.
At Nu-Air Heating & Cooling, we believe in supporting our community, especially in such difficult times. We have made donations for both the Mandeville Police Department and the family of the fallen officer Mandeville Police Captain Vincent “Vinnie” Liberto.
This police fatality marks the first time in Mandeville in the last 61 years, so it has come as a real shock to many of our community members. It is literally “too close to home” for many of our team members, who live just down the street from where it occurred, or who have children who attend nearby schools. It is hard for us to wrap our heads around what would motivate someone to do such a heinous act. While we try to comprehend what happened, it is important to support and reassure one another.
To show your support, we ask that you consider temporarily changing your social media account profile pictures to honor the Mandeville Police Department. Pray for the surviving officer and the family of the fallen. You can also consider making monetary contributions to the police department and the family of the fallen officer as you are. Plus, you can share the hashtag #NUAirCares on social media posts to spread the word about how we can all band together and show our support.
Thank you to all the brave men and women of the Mandeville Police Department who watch and protect us each day. We are so sorry this happened to you. It is our hope to build a better community through togetherness and charitable efforts today so we can have a safer, brighter tomorrow.
